Saving Noah - Lucinda Berry
I was hooked from the moment I picked this book up. This is such a deep, difficult and incredibly emotional story, told from the perspective of a mother whose teenage son has committed an absolutely horrific crime.
I felt for Adrianne every step of the way. I could feel the weight of every decision she made, every thought she had and every impossible emotion she was forced to navigate. And that’s what made this book so difficult — because while I couldn’t forgive Noah or even begin to understand how he could have committed such a terrible act, seeing the situation through his eyes and understanding the decision he made was heartbreaking.
It was such a strange and powerful feeling to feel so differently about the same person throughout the book.
And Adrianne’s decision to support her son… oh my goodness. I cried. And cried. And cried some more. It completely broke me. And yet, somehow, I understood it. That conflict between what you believe is right and what you would do for your child was explored so brilliantly.
And then the twist… I had a feeling something was coming, but I absolutely did NOT expect it to unfold the way it did. I won’t say anything more because this is definitely a book you need to go into without spoilers!
Such an incredibly well-written book tackling some really difficult and thought-provoking subjects. It left me thinking about it long after I finished reading.
This was my first @lucindaberryauthor book, but it certainly won’t be my last.
Easily a 5 ⭐️ read for me.
